Opening obstructed paths

Sections 63 – 65 of the CROW Act allows members of the public to serve notice on the highway authority to request them to remove an obstruction from any public right of way and gives the authority the power to order the offender to remove the obstruction.

For an explanation of how The Council currently deals with obstructions on public rights of way check out the list of Council measures to tackle problems and issues affecting public rights of way.

More information about the new measures is available on the Countryside Agency’s website.
