Cheshire is a great county to explore on foot. Rocky ridges and broad river valleys form natural routes, while the network of over 3000km of footpaths and other public rights of way encourage you to discover quiet corners of the countryside.
Visit the Discover Cheshire website for information on walking, cycling, and horse riding in Cheshire as well as Country Parks amd attractions across the county. Look at our Engineering Service pages for information on the health benefits of walking. |

Stride out along the ridge on the Sandstone Trail, a wonderful 55km walk from Frodsham to Whitchurch with tremendous views over Cheshire and beyond. Enjoy the spectacular scenery of Cheshire's hill country on the Gritstone Trail, a more challenging 56km walk from Disley to Kidsgrove. Both Trails start and finish at railway stations. There are many other walks in Cheshire, devised by individuals and organisations, and also a number of short walks around Cheshire's country parks. |
