The Council led the way nationally in countryside management, by establishing the first Ranger Service in Britain outside the national parks. It continues to be at the forefront today.
Today the Countryside Management Service:
- Manages country parks and picnic areas.
- Improves, protects and promotes the rights of way network.
- Develops new projects and partnerships to reach wider audiences.
- Is a partner in the Bollin Valley Partnership
Three teams of Countryside Rangers work across the county, managing a wide range of country parks and open spaces and encouraging everyone to use and enjoy them.
