Welcome to the Public Rights of Way pages.

As the 'highway authority' for Cheshire, the Council is responsible for maintaining the public rights of way network and keeping each individual public footpath, bridleway and byway free from obstruction. As the 'surveying authority' it is responsible for preparing and keeping up to date the legal record of these paths known as the Definitive Maps and Statements.

Enjoy Cheshire's countryside. The Council aims to help you make the most of the opportunities available to you - whether you are on foot, on pushbike, in the saddle or at the wheel.
