Doing your bit - No Cost Measures
- Only boil enough water in the kettle for what you need
- Turn off lights in empty rooms
- Close your curtains at dusk
- Do not leave your TV or video on standby when not in use

- Insulate your loft, walls, ceilings
- Draught proofing doors and windows
- Improve the heating controls within your home
- When upgrading or purchasing new electrical appliances look for the Energy Label to help you choose the most efficient products

Doing your bit - Grants available to help
- If you are on a low income there are a couple of national grant schemes that will pay for a variety of energy efficiency improvements in your home
- All the district councils provide a variety of grant schemes providing discounted energy efficiency measures to owner-occupiers and private tenants / landlords.
- Contact your electricity and gas supplier as they also run schemes for their customers providing discounts on energy efficiency measures
