Year of Action on Sustainable Development

The academic year (2006-07) was designated as a Year of Action on sustainable development for schools, following the consultation on the Sustainable Schools Strategy published in May 2006. The DfES is committed to embedding sustainable development in schools, the curriculum and the community and is working with partners and other Government departments to provide the necessary tools for this to happen. Since 06/07 more and more schools have begun to adress sustainability and have continued the good practice started within the Action Year.

• Sustainable Schools National Framework - The Government is looking for all schools to be more sustainable by 2020.
• S3 - Self Evaluation Tool - helps record your achievements in promoting Sustainable Schools as an integrated part of your Ofsted SEF
