The Council recognises that promoting equality and diversity will improve public services for everyone. Our aim, therefore, is to make equality an integral part of the way the Council works by putting it at the centre of policy making, service delivery, regulation and enforcement, and employment practice.
The Council has produced a Corporate Equality Plan which sets out how we will promote equal opportunities regardless of race, gender, disability, age, faith or sexual orientation, in the delivery of services and employment of staff. The document also sets out our equalities targets and how we plan to deliver these to ensure all aspects of equal opportunities are considered for service delivery and policy development.
The Council has also produced a Race Equality Scheme and Executive Summary and Disability Equality Scheme and Disability Equality Executive Summary which both form an integral part of the Council’s wider Corporate Equality Plan. These Schemes set out our overall objectives for improving and addressing race and disability inequalities and our action plans for delivering improvements to access and services.
In order to improve our Corporate Equality Plan, Race Equality Scheme and Disability Equality Scheme and to ensure that they are easy to read and understand, we would greatly appreciate any comments or suggestions that you may have.
