Impact Assessments have been developed as a tool for ensuring that all equality aspects are considered when drawing up policies and practices for service delivery and employment.

Their main function is:

a) to determine how the policies and practices of the Council impact on relevant groups

b) to measure whether it has a negative impact on groups or individuals in one or more of the equality categories.
