By Rail
Winsford Station is on the main west coast line from London to Glasgow. Phoenix House is 2.5km from the station by road. A ½ -hourly bus service (37) connects the station with Winsford town centre. If walking from the station, see ‘On foot’ below.
By Bus
Several services run through or terminate at Winsford inc. X20 & 230 (Chester - Middlewich), the 37 (Crewe to Winsford via Middlewich) and the 31 (Crewe to Northwich). You are advised to check services, times before making your journey.
By Cycle

- From Chester and the West via Whitegate Way
Follow Whitegate Way east to crossing of Grange Lane & turn Right. Turn Left at end (still Grange Lane) and continue to traffic lights at A54 dual carriageway. Cross into Dene Drive then Left at next set of lights, down The Drumber. Continue to 2nd roundabout and straight across into Clough Road and Phoenix House.
- From Middlewich and the East via NCN5
Approaching Winsford, follow signed route of NCN 5 down Rilshaw Lane till just before bridge over A54 / Winsford Bypass, take a cycle track off down to Left. Continue to gyratory system and take 1st exit up Weaver Street to top and turn Right down Dingle Lane to roundabout then Right into Clough Road and Phoenix House.
- From Northwich & the North via NCN5
Take Weaver Cycleway (NCN 5) S from Northwich to A54 gyratory over River Weaver. Take Weaver Street exit, cycle to top and turn Right down Dingle Lane to roundabout then Right into Clough Road and Phoenix House.
On Foot
- From Winsford Railway Station
Follow Station Road West to the A54 gyratory system over the Weaver then take the footway beside the 2nd exit from the roundabout (A54 High Street). A path leads up through Town Park to a mini roundabout on Dingle Lane. Turn Left down Clough Road to enter the grounds of Phoenix House.
- From Winsford Town Centre
Exit the centre onto The Drumber opposite VRBC’s offices at Wyvern House. and turn Left to mini roundabout. Continue across into Clough Road and Phoenix House.
Beware constant vehicle movements at the gated entrance to the grounds. All visitors should announce their arrival using the buzzer in the foyer at the main entrance to Phoenix House.
By Car

- From Chester and the West
Follow signs for Winsford town centre along A54 dual carriageway, across the Over roundabout and on to 2nd traffic light controlled junction. Position yourself in filter lane to turn Right into Dingle Lane (signed ‘shopping centre car park’). Follow Dingle Lane to roundabout and turn Left into Clough Rd, then through the gates into the grounds of Phoenix House.
- From Middlewich, M6 (junction 18) & the East
From Middlewich, follow signs for town centre along A54 past Winsford railway station down to gyratory crossing of River Weaver. Take 2nd exit up A54 / High Street (dual carriageway) to 1st set of traffic lights. Turn Left into Dingle Lane and Left again at roundabout into Clough Road leading to Phoenix House.
- From Northwich & the North
Follow the A533 south from the A556 / Northwich bypass. Turn right along the A5018 following signs for Winsford town centre. At the gyratory system over the River Weaver, take the third exit onto A54 / High Street (dual carriageway) to the first set of traffic lights. Turn left into Dingle Lane and left again at roundabout into Clough Road and Phoenix House.
- From Crewe / Nantwich & the South
Follow the B5074 / Swanlow Lane to 1st set of traffic lights. Turn Right, then 2nd Left into Dene Drive. Follow Dene Drive to traffic lights and turn Right down The Drumber. Drive past roundabout entrance to VRBC offices and continue straight across next roundabout into Clough Road which leads directly to Phoenix House. |
