The role of the Independent Parental Supporter

The work of the Individual Parental Supporter (IPS)is essential for the success of the Parent Partnership Service. See Support for details on the ways in which a IPS will help a family.

We have a rolling programme of training for volunteers and would be very pleased to hear from anyone who would like to know more.

To find out what is is like to be an IPS download the comments leaflet written by some of our existing volunteers.

The Training

Parent Partnership training gives our volunteers information and practical experience.

The training:-

  • Is delivered in weekly sessions
  • Lasts for 10 weeks
  • Leads to accreditation through the Open College Network
  • Is very practical, using real case studies
  • Includes visits and shadowing
  • Is led by Parent Partnership staff
  • Allows trainees to meet professional staff
  • Is free of charge to volunteers

Could You Help?

If you have time to offer, you could make a real difference to Cheshire parents.

The time volunteers spend helping the Parent Partnership Service varies. They themselves choose how much time they commit. We arrange insurance and pay expenses for our volunteers.

We run training courses across Cheshire throughout the year. For more information about course dates or an informal discussion please contact us or see the events page.
