Cheshire Parent Partnership Service train volunteers to support parents. Our volunteers are able to give independent help and advice and are called Independent Parental Supporters. They can explain what is going on and help you put across your views about your child's education.
How can an Independent Parent Supporter help parents?
- Listen to you and build up a clear picture of what is happening
- Help you complete forms
- Help with letter writing if needed
- Go with you on visits to schools
- Sit in on meetings, take notes and discuss with you what has been said
- Help you to understand the assessment process and the roles of professionals
- Help you get information from other statutory and voluntary agencies
- Help you keep track of meetings, reports and letters
Our friendly volunteers have a great deal of information and practical experience. They also have information about other people and services who you could contact if you need to discuss your child's progress.
