Cheshire Replacement Waste Local Plan
The County Council adopted the Cheshire Replacement Waste Local Plan on 12 July 2007. The adopted plan forms part of the development plan for the administrative area of Cheshire County Council.
The adopted Cheshire Replacement Waste Local Plan replaces the old plan which dates from 1987. The old plan can be accessed from the Download Documents section. Cheshire County Council prepared a Re-deposit Draft of the Replacement Waste Local Plan for Cheshire. This was subject to a public Local Plan Inquiry held by an independent Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State. The County Council received the Inspector's Report and covering letter into the outstanding objections to the Re-deposit Draft Plan in June 2007.
The recommendations of the Inspector’s Report were binding on the County Council. Therefore the Re-deposit Draft of the Plan has been modified in line with the Inspector’s recommendations to produce the final version of the Plan. This was adopted at the Council meeting on 12 July 2007.
The notice of adoption appeared in the press from 8 August 2007.
The Replacement Waste Local Plan will help us to make decisions on planning applications for waste management facilities by:
- Highlighting our aims and priorities
- Setting the criteria that planning applications must meet
- Identifying sites that might be suitable for managing waste
The Plan’s priorities are:
-
Balancing the need for new waste management facilities with the protection and enhancement of Cheshire’s environment and quality of life.
-
Enabling an increase in the number of facilities in Cheshire which recycle and re-use waste.
-
Encouraging the use of the most up to date waste management technologies.
-
Reducing the need for landfill.
