A 'footway', commonly referred to as a pavement, normally runs adjacent to the road. Pavements that are obstructed or require repair should be reported as soon as possible to your Area Highways Team.
A 'footpath' is normally associated with recreation and leisure activities, as this is normally unsurfaced, and found in rural areas with 'Public Footpath' signs erected.
