Mud on the Road

Main heading

Sub-heading

Mud on RoadIt is an offence for anyone to deposit anything on the highway which may cause a nuisance or a possible danger to road users. The main examples of this are soil and mud, usually left by farmers or building contractors.

If the mud, etc causes a nuisance or a safety issue, then we will remove the substance or arrange for the Fire Brigade to wash it away. All the costs incurred will be recovered from those responsible.

Please tell your Area Highways Team if you see significant amounts of mud on the road.
