The five kilometre (3 miles) route runs to the west of Alderley Edge, starting at Harden Park roundabout and rejoins the existing A34 to the south of Nether Alderley village (a plan of the route that the new bypass will take can be viewed by using the link below). Birse Civils have been appointed as the Contractor for the main civil engineering works, they will begin work on site in January 2009 and will take approximately two years to complete the bypass.

Reminder to all drivers We would like to remind all drivers that use Nursery Lane and Sossmoss Lane that there is a legally enforceable one way gyratory system in operation for all traffic, at all times, (not just construction traffic). From the A535 Chelford Road eastwards towards Welsh Row, traffic must use Nursery Lane, and traffic from Welsh Row westwards to A535 must use Sossmoss Lane (an anticlockwise gyratory system).
