Help the Aged - Slip And Trips
- Be aware of changes in your health - have eye checks, let your GP know if the drugs you have make you dizzy, tell someone if your feeling unwell
- Eat healthily
- Watch what you drink - drinking too much alcohol is damaging to bone renewal
Your Home
- Adapt your home - brighter light bulbs, letter box cage for letters to avoid the need to stoop, avoid trailing wires, install handrails e.g. by the bath, toilet and stairs
Your Behaviour
- Take fewer risks - make sure lights are on, get out of bed or a chair in stages (sudden movements can cause dizziness)
Your Clothing
- Wear sensible footwear - avoid heels, walking on slippery surfaces in socks, flared trousers
- Consider hip protector clothing
- Obtain a personal fall alarm system
