Charging for Care Services

Main heading

Sub-heading

Introduction | Non-Residential Services | Residential Services

Cheshire County Council provides residential and non-residential care services under the provisions of the NHS and Community Care Act 1993. See our Fair Access To Care Factsheet for further information

Residential Services
Charges for residential services are made under the National Assistance (Assessment of Resources) Regulations 1992 and follow Department of Health guidance “Charging for Residential Accommodation Guide”. Residential services include both long term and short term (or respite) residential and nursing care.

Non-Residential Services
Cheshire County Council has its own policy for charging for non-residential services, made under the Fairer Charging Statutory Guidance issued by the Department of Health in 2002. Non-residential services include home care and day care for which there is an assessed charge and other services such as meals and day care transport for which there is a flat rate charge.

Supporting People
Financial Assessment for services provided under the Supporting People initiative is also made under the Department of Health's Fairer Charging guidance.
