Cosmetic Services
Artificial Eyes
The National Artificial Eye Service makes and supplies artificial eyes. They also supply cosmetic shells and facial prostheses, including lips. These are free to NHS patients. Audio-tapes are produced on the use and care of artificial eyes. A referral is needed from your doctor or a hospital.

- IRIS Vision Resource Centre, 14 Chapel Street, Crewe, CW2 7DQ. Tel: 01270 250316
- Macclesfield Eye Society, 15 Queen Victoria St, Macclesfield, SK11 6LP Tel: 01625 422602
Transcription Service
This service records, at short notice, items which blind people wish to read urgently. It does not matter whether it is in connection with work, study or leisure pursuits; the only basis for acceptance is that access is needed to it quickly and that other tape reading services cannot deal with it on time. For more information contact: The Transcription Centre, 67 High Street, Tarporley, Cheshire, CW6 0DP. Telephone: 01829 732115.
