Cheshire County Council ceased to exist on April 1st 2009 when its services and responsibilities transferred to Cheshire East Council and Cheshire West and Chester Council.The pages and documents through this website may contain branding and information relevant to the old councils, but are being made available because they are still relevant to our customers. We are continuing to update all materials on the Cheshire east and Cheshire West and Chester website and aim to remove all references to the old Councils by the end of the year (2009).

Supporting People Homepage

Supporting People is a national programme that aims to enable adults with housing related support needs to live independently. This is done through different types of support such as sheltered housing; help with budgeting; developing social and life skills; understanding and managing a tenancy and accessing other services.

In Cheshire the programme supports around 12,000 vulnerable adults, for example older people, people with learning disabilities, teenage parents and people experiencing homelessness. Supporting People is a working partnership of local government, health, probation, support providers and service users.
