| Bluetongue Protection Zone reaches Cheshire
The Bluetongue Protection zone includes parts of Cheshire namely Congleton, Crewe and Nantwich, and Macclesfield. ( Chester, Vale Royal and Ellesmere Port & Neston are still outside the Protection Zone.) The zone follows the Borough Council boundaries. The implications of this is that it is no longer possible to move ruminating animals, namely cattle, sheep and goats from inside the zone to premises outside the zone (unless they are going to an approved slaughterhouse). For more details visit the Defra website or please call our information line on 01244 976767.
