Cheshire Trading Standards offers consumer education to Cheshire residents to ensure that all consumers, especially the vulnerable, can make informed choices about goods and services purchased in an increasingly complex marketplace. We aim to ensure that all consumers have the knowledge to protect themselves from potentially unscrupulous trades people and that they are empowered with the knowledge and skills to help themselves.
Schools
Cheshire Secondary schools are given full support in implementing the Citizenship strand of the National Curriculum and are encouraged to submit teams for the Young Consumers of the Year Competition which is aimed at students aged 14 to 17 years.
Information is available from:
Lifelong Learning
A range of talks is available from our Education and Fair Trading Officers on issues such as door-step sales and general consumer rights. These are particularly useful for elderly and vulnerable consumers and can be arranged either during the day or in the evening. Further information is available from Gaynor Roberts or Stephanie Scott.
