Community Waste Action Grant Fund

The County Council in partnership with the Recycling Consortium embarked on a community waste action programme during 2002/03 which helped to promote the formation and growth of community organisations working on recycling and reuse projects. A Community Waste Action Grant Fund has been established providing grants of up to £500 a year for community waste projects such as furniture recycling schemes and community composting initiatives.

Cheshire Furniture Reuse Forum

The County Council has provided funding to establish the Cheshire Furniture Reuse Forum.  The Forum is made up of 14 charitable furniture projects working throughout the County to redistribute unwanted furniture to families in need. 

The projects:

• support people when they need it most by helping families to set up home or access furniture that they can't afford
• help the environment by preventing good quality furniture ending up in landfill
• provide training and volunteer opportunities which can help those who find it hard to get employment
