Performance Indicators for Recycling across the whole of Cheshire (Cheshire County Council and the six District Councils) 2006/07

Tonnages:

• waste arising = 435,672
• waste landfilled = 275,669
• waste composted and / or recycled = 159,290
• % recycled and/or composted (excluding rubble) = 36%
• % landfilled = 64%

We recycled and composted 31% in 2005/06.

Government targets for proportion of waste recycled or composted are as follows:

• 30% for 2005/06
• 40% by 2010
• 45% by 2015
• 50% by 2020
