Availability and Performance Reports for the Cheshire Homepage

Glossary of terms in reports

Connect  The time taken to ‘connect’ to the machines holding the web page.
Content  The time taken to fully receive all text and images on the Cheshire homepage.  As connections speeds to the internet differ, a minimum, maximum and average are shown on the reports.
Connection Failed  Checks are made from three geographic locations every fifteen minutes, if one of these checks report the site Is unavailable a connection failure is added.
DNS This stands for ‘Domain Name System’ and is the first check made by a browser when surfing to a page (i.e. to check one with that address actually exists)
Download Timed Out  Checks are made from three geographic locations every fifteen minutes, if one of these checks report the site takes longer than twenty seconds to appear a download time out is added.
HTML  This stands for Hypertext Mark-up Language and is the code that most web pages are written in.  When you surf to a page it will take some time to read this code, this time is shown in the reports.
Number of verified failures  If an access attempt from multiple Axzona monitoring stations reports failure simultaneously a verified failure is added.  Cheshire County Council receives an alert whenever a verified failure is detected.
Number of failed accesses If an access attempt fails from a single Axzona monitoring station, a failed access is added.
Percentage Verified Up-Time  A percentage to show the amount of time in which the site was available (i.e. when surfed to would appear on screen)
Total number of accesses  The total amount of checks that have been made by Axzona over the specified time period.  For example 1932 from the 21/03/05 until the 27/03/05.
